Giving and Receiving!

As we continue to move through this holiday season we will all get a many things and give many things. How do you talk about this with your kids? Is this something you have thought about as something to do? Well now is your chance…

Giving and receiving is something that you can make into a learning opportunity. Below are steps for giving and receiving gifts.

1. Teach how to be grateful for a gift.

a. Prepare them for it.

b. Give them the steps so they understand how it works.

c. Say thank you.

d. Open it slowly and enjoy each one.

e. Do not complain about it in front of the giver.

f. Write a thank you note.

2. Teach how to give a gift.

a. Give them time to make or buy a gift on their own.

b. Buy or make a gift together.

c. Model giving.

d. Talk about what it feels like to give a gift.

e. Give praise or encouragement for giving..
